BACK TO BASICS SEWING CLASSES

Be creative and sew that extra special little dress or make that keepsake for a loved one. We are seeing a large influx of young people wanting to learn the basics of sewing – so why not learn to hem your own jeans and take in a few side seams.

Learn Dressmaking, Heirloom, Patchwork and Quilting, Freehand Machine Embroidery, Twiddling and Fiddling, and much, much more using state of the art equipment.

Sewing classes and workshops open to all ages. Both guests and in house tutors are trained to the highest standard and pass on their knowledge in a friendly relaxed way.

Please note that a deposit for classes is required in advance.

DRESSMAKING
Learn the basic skills of cutting out a pattern, putting in zips, pockets etc. Our tutors will advise you on pattern and fabric. Our weekly dressmaking classes run throughout the year and you may join at any time. These classes run on Wednesdays & Saturdays.

PATCHWORK & QUILTING
Using modern machines and equipment, patchwork and quilting has never been so easy. We will cover various techniques which will be ideal for those who have never tried piecing or quilting to make a block which can be used to make a bag, a cushion cover, or we can really go for it and plan a quilt.

MONDAY NIGHT PATCHWORK & QUILTING
This class takes place on the 1st and 3rd Monday night of every month.

SEWING CLUB
Why not join our sewing club held on 1st Tuesday of every month (except January). Drop in anytime between 2pm - 5pm. You will meet other owners for a chat & exchange ideas.

Due to rising costs there will be a £5 charge per session, to cover materials.

KIDS CAN SEW
Due to our involvement with schools in the area, we know how important it is to pass on skills to younger generations. The skills you learn will last a lifetime and enable you to design and create beautiful projects of your own. Classes run on Mondays & Saturdays.

HEIRLOOM SEWING - BASIC
On this course you will learn the basic heirloom stitches and techniques such as puffing, lace insertion, twin needle and traditional pin tucks to produce a beautiful heirloom bolster pillow.

HEIRLOOM SEWING - ADVANCED*
On this one day course you will learn how to do French heirloom – pin tucks, puffing, lace insertion, entredeux, two colour embroidery etc. You will use twin needles and wing needles to create wonderful effects. The sample you create can then be used to make cushions, bags, quilts or christening gowns.
* Because this course has more advanced techniques than the above it is advisable to complete the basic first.

HEIRLOOM BLOCK OF THE MONTH
Make your own quilt in our Block of the month class.

KNOW YOUR SEWING MACHINE*
An introduction to your sewing machine or a refresher course for those who need it. Explore your sewing machine. Bring it along to our class and learn about threading, how to use different feet, tensioning etc.

KNOW YOUR OVERLOCKER*
A one-day course designed to put you in touch with your overlocker. Learn about threading, stitch length & width, differential feed and also how to handle stretch and delicate fabrics, tensioning and the correct thread for the job.
* These classes are free for those who have purchased their sewing machine or overlocker from us.

NEW OWNERS INTRODUCTION CLASSES
