We have been running classes in Coventry Sewing Centre for many years There are a variety of classes which we have found to be very popular, from all ages. We run classes for those that wish to take that project just a little step further. The classes range from beginners to the more advanced, we keep the classes small so everyone receives individual tuition. We have seen many masterpieces from people that have chose to join one or more of the classes.
Learn, Dressmaking, Heirloom, Patchwork and Quilting, Freehand Machine Embroidery, Twiddling and Fiddling, and much much more!
New for this year we are pleased to offer regular computer software training on the Husqvana software packages, for example the Customizing and Digitalizing etc.
We don't claim to be experts here, but we are happy to answer any questions that you may have and you can help us with any questions that we may have.

Texture into Sudoku

Sunday 24th Feburary: 10 - 4.00pm
Nine ingenious ways to create surface texture and manipulated magic. Crete all nine idea's in the class and combine to create and amazingly marvelously nipped, tucked, twiddled and fiddled.
Full pre-cut kit provided in excellent quality calico to make all the designs.

Couture Bone Bodices.
Judy designs, cuts, fits and sews couture wedding dresses herself. She has been hand crafting dress and bodices for brides in the UK for many years. FREE HAND EMBROIDERY
Discover your artist skills with this thread painting class. You will be working in small scale, you will dye your own fabrics, sew on water soluble fabric, learn new embroidery techniques and go home with lots of samples and ideas to create your own unique embroidery masterpiece.
Also use this day to have a go on the embellisher machine. There is no thread needed, it requires no sewing, it simply meshes fabric together. Ask for a demonstration.

Creative Student Workshops
This is a special class for students producing work towards projects and portfolios. This is a chance for you to really explore your creativity. Classes are designed to help you explore your own ideas with the help of our expert tutor.

Twiddles and Fiddles
Come and try Jennie's zany twiddles and fiddles & Padded Fancy Fans!
Amaze yourself with this nipped, twiddled and manipulated 'Lily' block. Oh so simple - just a few squares and rectangles. Add an intriguing arched border (no nasty curved seams) to complete this delightful 20" square block/panel/cushion/quilt (or sue the pieces for two 12" squares). Play with shapes a structural forms, enjoy a little inserting, folding, padding and persuading to produce your own uniquely designed block.

Padded Fancy Fans
The Tucked Up Fan closely resembles a traditional patchwork called Drunkards Path featured in many quilting books. There are several different ways to utilise the this pattern; why not remake some of these designs substituting the fan block for the other? Experiment with your own innovative layout.
Think about miniaturising or enlarging the fan block. Reduce the outer arced edge of the A template for a smaller version; extend the lines, redraw the outer arced edge for a larger one. Explore the effect of flattening/squashing all the tucks, or change the twisting pattern.

Dressmaking Classes
Our weekly dressmaking classes run throughout the year and you may join at any time. You pay for a block of 5 classes.
These classes run on a Wednesday morning 11.00 – 1.00hrs and Wednesday evening 19.00 – 21.00hrs.

Heirloom Group
We have been running heirloom classes at Coventry Sewing Centre for a number of years now and we have seen a rise in it's popularity, wonderful works of art which used to take weeks if not months to complete by hand can now be sewn effortlessly on your home sewing machine. We will be starting these classes again in September.

Patchwork Group
In response to customer requests, we are setting up PATCHWORK & QUILTING friendly group sessions to be held here in the shop!
The group numbers are limited to six bodies per session.
Starting in September 2006.
These meetings will be held on the first and third Tuesday of every month.

CURTAIN MAKING
Doreen Hawthorn
These sessions are arranged with our friendly tutor Doreen Hawthorn to suit customer requirements.
Classes are small, so you don't have to wait all session for the tutor to help. The tutors have all been trained to a high standard and have had years of experience in their field so you know you'll be receiving the best attention.

KIDS CAN SEW
Due to our involvement with schools and colleges in the area, we know how important it is to pass on skills to younger generations by experienced tutors, so back by popular demand is our kids can sew classes run by Briege. These are one-hour sessions held on a Monday Evening and Saturday morning.
